Golf Tourism in Turkey

Numerous golf courses in Turkey offer facilities of the highest quality for the sport of golf. The Turkish Golf Federation was established in 1996, while the country’s first golf club was established in 1895.

Turkey, with its golf facilities whose son is evaluating their admission into service, is intended to return to an emphasis golf center with its connections resembling those of other golf centers around the globe. It’s like being in Antalya, Turkey, as there are golf courses in the Mula and Istanbul provinces, especially in Belek, which is only a few kilometers away from Antalya. This seems to create a golf tourism potential with today’s and natural course, as well as plants in the classrooms.

Antalya is the most popular golf destination in Turkey. In 2008, the International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO) named Belek the Best Golf Region in Europe. It has 27 golf courses in 11 touristic facilities.

For golf tourism, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism has planned 49 golf courses in the Culture and Tourism Conservation and Development Region, Tourism Center, and Tourism Area in the provinces of Antalya, Aydn, Mula, Mersin, and Nevşehir, with an approximate bed capacity of 35,000.

With the growth of golf tourism in Turkey and the construction of courses of international caliber, our nation is now able to host international golf tournaments. In this context, the Challenge Tour, the first leg of the European professional golf tour, was organized in our country in 2010 with 22 countries, and the IGTM 2011 (International Golf Travel Market-International Golf Tourism Fair) was held in Belek from 14-17 November 2011. The World Golf Championship, which is the golf equivalent of the Olympics and is held every two years, was held in our country in 2012, and it was hosted by Belek, which was named Europe’s finest golf destination in 2008. On April 5-7, 2013, the Turkish leg of the World Corporate Golf Challenge was conducted in Belek. The Turkish Airlines Open Golf Tournament, which has become one of the most prestigious golf tournaments in Europe and is the first leg of the European Tour final series, was conducted in Belek from November 3 to 6, 2016, with the participation of 78 golfers from 20 countries. In 2018, Turkey hosted a total of 108 national and international golf tournaments.
